About San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity

Our History

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to create better, permanent shelter for lower-income families. To accomplish this, Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates houses, providing decent homes in decent communities where people can live and grow into all that God intended.

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Our affiliate was founded in 1990 and seeks to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action while eliminating poverty housing and homelessness from the San Gabriel Valley.

Our affiliate has built 36 homes, providing 187 men, women and children with safe, decent, affordable shelter. In 2006, we will build three more homes on Palmer Avenue in Glendale. Our goal is to build continuously and to increase our capacity to build more homes each year. Read more about our current projects.

SGVHFH involves the community by motivating it to volunteer time, talent, money, and donated materials to build affordable housing. In the process, we help to build families, communities, and relationships that will last for years to come. All areas of society (individuals, houses of worship, businesses, and governmental agencies) get involved. SGVHFH is a catalyst for positive change in the San Gabriel Valley.

San Gabriel Valley affiliate tithes on the unrestricted contributions it receives. These funds have supported the construction of another eighty-eight homes in countries such as Armenia, Rumania, Mexico, the Philippines, Northern Ireland, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, New Guinea, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.

Your contributions are hard at work both locally and globally!
