The Challenge

A third of the United States faces housing problems, including lack of affordability, overcrowding, unsafe conditions and homelessness. This creates tremendous instability in our families, weakens our economy and impacts our health and educational success.

Our Mission

To eliminate poverty housing from the San Gabriel Valley and to make decent, affordable shelter for all people a matter of conscience.

To achieve our mission, we have to change the systems that lead to poverty housing so that more families have a place to call home. This notion of systems change has always been at the heart and core of our Habitat values.

Take Action!

You can make a powerful impact today.  Elected officials listen to the priorities of the people they represent, so speak up! Ask Congress to support policies that help place more families in safe, decent and affordable homes. With your voice, we can truly make poverty housing a thing of the past.

Send a message to your elected officials … now.

Here are simple and easy ways to make a difference in the lives of families around the world who are in need of decent housing:

Ask Congress to support affordable housing legislation to help the world’s poor
Today, 1 billion people live in slums, and that number is growing rapidly. The U.S. can be a leader in the fight to help reduce global poverty and improve the lives of people living in slums. Urge your legislators to support the Shelter, Land and Urban Assistance Act of 2009.

Tell Congress to save the National Housing Trust Fund and support the Capital Magnet Fund
The economic crisis means more families need help. Habitat for Humanity is ready to help by building homes with low-income families in need. Along with the National Housing Trust Fund, Capital Magnet Fund grants would give Habitat vital resources to build more homes― homes our partner families need.
