About the Program
Habitat for Humanity’s Brush with Kindness (BWK) program is a locally-operated service for low-income homeowners struggling to maintain the exterior of their homes. Municipalities and corporate partners fund BWK projects, and applications are accepted when funding is available.
Why it Matters
Brush with Kindness ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes. The program is designed to revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, encourage connections within the community and help preserve affordable housing stock.
How it Works
- Groups of volunteers help homeowners with exterior maintenance, which typically includes painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, weatherization and exterior clean-up.
- Habitat selects partner families based on need, income and willingness to partner.
- Habitat uses donated materials and makes no profit on BWK projects.
Current Projects
San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity has finished four BWK projects in Temple City and one in Azusa so far, and has one additional project planned for Temple City.
How to apply
