Habitat International

John MacLean

John MacLeanJohn first became involved in Habitat for Humanity, by volunteering a weekend at a build site. After witnessing first hand, the contribution that Habitat was making to a very deserving family, he decided to dedicate more of his time to this worthwhile organization. John joined the San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity to assist in making home ownership a reality for more families, and ended up joining its Board of Directors in 2005.

John is a Senior Loan Consultant for Washington Mutual Bank’s newly created, Commercial Lending Division. John has been with Washington Mutual for over 11 years, where he has managed several Loan Servicing Operations, and was most recently the Vice President and Divisional Manager over the Investor Services Division. John’s division managed a 4.5 million Investor Loan Portfolio, and was responsible for reporting and remitting to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Federal Home Loan Bank and over 2,000 institutional investors.

John is an accomplished speaker and has been a featured speaker at institutional investor conferences, and more recently, commercial lending seminars. But his passion has always been in talking with the first-time home buyers; helping to get them prepared and on the right track to home ownership. John feels strongly that a stable housing environment contributes immensely to a stable family life.

As a licensed Real Estate Broker, John’s life has always revolved around real estate. John and his wife, Susan MacLean, have been active investors in the Pasadena area and have rehabbed several old homes. John and Susan also own a real estate company in Pasadena (Showcase Homes, Realty and Investments), and together they’ve made first-time home ownership a reality for many local families.

John has been a member of the Pasadena Jaycees for the last 10 years, and together with his wife volunteer their time with other non-profit boards and at community events.
