San Gabriel Valley Habitat welcomes volunteers who are required by a court to do community service. While all of our volunteer opportunities are open to such volunteers, the time-frame required for the hours’ completion typically means that an individual will volunteer either in construction or at one of our ReStores.
To be eligible to use San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity as a source for completing community service, your sentence must involve:
1. No Second offense conviction of a violent nature.
2.No convictions of an offense of a sexual nature.
3.No convictions of theft or burglary.
4.Written confirmation of the number of community service hours to be completed.
Additionally, you must:
5.Fill out and Individual Interest form, sign a Safety and Liability waiver prior to beginning community service, and sign our Community Service Acknowledgment. All these forms must be turned in prior to volunteering.
6.Use our Community Service form to track your hours.
7.Sign in upon arrival at the work locations.
8.Sign out when you leave the work site and locate the Site Supervisor to sign/initial the Community Service form, verifying your attendance and hours.
9.Once your hours are complete, bring your form to the SGV Habitat main office for a final signature and so we can make a copy for our records.
Please note: San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity reserves the right to terminate this agreement for community service if the participant is in any way unproductive, disruptive, or in any other way negatively impacts the accomplishment of the daily goals.)
