CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

711 North Kenwood Street in Glendale: Tuesday-Friday, 8:00am – 2:30pm; Saturday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Please arrive to the site on time with your paperwork filled out in advance.  Late arrivals slow down the work day and miss out on important safety information.  If you are late or are a non-scheduled walk-on, you must wait until the next round of orientations (8:00am and 12:00pm on Saturdays) to begin your volunteer time, or you may be sent home.

Before coming out to the site, all volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation

INDIVIDUALS

People of all construction backgrounds are welcome on our jobsites.  Habitat builds are great opportunities to share skills and to gain new ones, all the while helping a deserving family in need.

Please note: We ask that all individuals give our staff advance notice of their volunteer time so that our construction leadership can be prepared with an accurate estimate of each day’s volunteers. Non-scheduled walk-ons are discouraged.  Please email Amy Borton at volunteernow@sgvhabitat.org or leave a message at 626-387-6899 x17 by 12:00pm the day BEFORE you plan to volunteer.

GROUPS

We welcome groups of 5-20 people to help us build houses as part of a group experience.  Recruit your family, friends, company, church or club to volunteer as a group with Habitat!  We require all our groups to schedule their build time with us in advance. Please contact Amy Borton at volunteernow@sgvhabitat.org or 626-387-6899 x17 to check availability and to schedule your group.  Space is limited on Saturdays — consider signing up to work on a weekday!

Saturdays are be split into two shifts: 8:00am – 12:00pm and 12:00pm – 4:00pm to accommodate more groups.  Please ensure all of the members of your group arrive on time and prepared with paperwork.  Due to the high amount of interest in group volunteering, once you are scheduled, please do your best to honor your commitment.  If you absolutely have to cancel or modify your reservation, please notify the Volunteer Coordinator by phone at least 7 days before your scheduled volunteer day.

SKILLED VOLUNTEERS

We enjoy working with volunteers of various skill levels, but people with construction experience can be particularly helpful.  There are always opportunities to serve for a day or more as a Crew Leader, leading a small team of volunteers in a particular task.  Teaching new skills to inexperienced volunteers is a rewarding challenge and our construction leadership will show you all you need to know to be successful.
