San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity recognizes the unique role that youth and education groups play in our mission to eliminate poverty housing and create awareness of the need for decent, affordable homes for all people. We welcome the energy and enthusiasm that youth can provide in our program. Our goal is to provide special opportunities for volunteers to become educated on issues of affordable housing while working toward a solution, building self-esteem, learning new skills, receiving hands-on job training, and developing a life-long spirit of service.
Youth are encouraged to be involved in any of our group and individual volunteer opportunities, but youth working on the construction site must comply with the age guidelines.
Building on Youth Program
Is a program designed for youth 5-15 to be involved in many aspects of the Habitat program. It is a four-part program that involved learning about Habitat, helping Habitat by doing at least two activities, reflecting on the activities through art, and celebrating their accomplishment by sharing their art with the San Gabriel Valley Community. We will present each youth participant who completes the program with a “Building on Youth” Habitat certificate.
