We also partner with companies in creative ways, building home sponsorships by combining in-kind donations and services with cash house sponsorships. Some ideas to get involved with San Gabriel Valley Habitat through Gift-in-Kind material donations or professional services are listed below.


For each SGV Habitat build, 17–20% of the material costs are typically donated. We depend on the generosity of individuals and companies to donate construction materials, professional engineering and construction services to build homes in partnership with deserving low-income families. All Habitat homes are sold to the partner families at no profit and with no interest on mortgages. The mortgage payments made by Habitat for Humanity’s families are used to build more homes.

When building materials and professional services are donated, our funds can be stretched to complete more housing developments and give more families a “hand-up” in obtaining a home of their own. Every gift to San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity is truly a gift that keeps on giving! All types of new construction materials are welcome. We maintain “Wish Lists” for each build. Please review the Kenwood Wish List and the Sherman Wish List. We always have need for lumber, rough plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, insulation, siding and roofing materials.

For those organizations that desire to make construction related product donations, San Gabriel Valley Habitat view’s these contributions similarly to a cash donation. Almost any new construction related material such as lumber, plumbing, nails and fasteners or new appliances can help save San Gabriel Valley funds to be used elsewhere. The material contribution value is equated to the House Sponsorship program and the same marketing benefits are provided.

Local builders, contractors, businesses and individuals are encouraged to donate new or previously owned re-usable materials, as well as inventory that is overstocked or discontinued. San Gabriel Valley ReStores provide a green alternative and cost-effective means for disposal of items that would normally be thrown away.

Habitat for Humanity is a not-for-profit entity and your donations are tax-deductible. For a donation receipt to be issued, donated items must be in saleable condition and in good working order. You will be required to determine the value of your donation.

We accept donations Monday-Saturday, 9am to 5pm. We pick up donations Tuesday-Saturday.
